CNN was the first media to reject the advertisement on May 2, saying that "mainstream media is not fake news, and therefore it is wrong." CNN said it would be ready to accept it if the charts were removed, the same conditions as those made by NBC on Friday.
ABC said the ads were "personal attacks" that "did not meet the guidelines" and said they "previously received other Trump ads and the media were open to doing so in the future as long as they fit the guidelines."
CBS has not issued a public comment. Fox News and the Fox Business Network, which widely support Trump, have aired the ad.
"Apparently, mainstream media are champions of the First Amendment only if they present their own political views.Faced with ads that do not fit their biased narratives, CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC have now chosen to block our ads. Unprecedented in the United States that every freedom-loving citizen should pay attention to, "Lara Trump, the son-in-law and council president of the president said in a statement.
Trump himself has not commented on the ad, but his latest tweet says "the mainstream media (FAKE) refused to broadcast our long list of achievements, including 28 legislators, strong borders and great optimism!" Writes Trump on April 29.
Then on May 4, he again posted the Tweet "The fake media officially out of control They will do or say something to get attention - never like this!"
