German Chancellor Takes Veil When Meeting King Salman
German Chancellor Angela Merkel decides not to wear a veil during a state visit to Saudi Arabia. There Merkel meets with King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud.
Merkel follows the steps of British Prime Minister Theresa May. When met King Salman the woman also chose not wearing a head covering.
Saudi Arabia is known as a country that implements Islamic sharia law. One of them is not allowing women to show her hair in public. And must use clothes that cover the genitals.
Merkel's action was made shortly after he issued a statement about the use of burka in his country.
"Burka will not be accepted in our country," said Merkel as quoted from the Telegraph, Monday (1/5/2017).
Not the first time Merkel did not wear veil while visiting Arabia. In 2010, she let her blond hair be seen while visiting several cities in the 'petro-dollar country'.
He attended the Saudi-German economic conference held in [Saudi Arabia] (2895453 "") at that time.
